Personal Development Through Positive Self Motivation

Positive self motivation is the inner drive that puts optimism into action for winning in life. Winners are driven by desire! A winner will have the desire to improve upon their own personal development. There never was a consistent winner in any walk of life, who didn't have that burning desire to win internalized. Winners know that the basic behavioral maximum in life is the fact that you and I do become what we think about most. You and I are motivated everyday and moved by our currently dominant thoughts. In other words we move only in the direction of that what we dwell on.

Everyone in life is self motivated, a little bit or a lot, positively or negatively, even a decision to do nothing is a decision based on motivation. Motivation is a force which moves us to action, and it springs from inside the individual. Motivation is defined as a strong tendency toward or away from an object or situation, and it can be learned and developed, it doesn't have to be inborn.

Anyone wishing to improve upon their personal development has to, in one way or another ignite their own motivation. For too long it has been wrongly assumed that motivation is extraneous, that it can be pumped in from the outside through pep talks, or contests or rallies. Such activities do provide concepts in education, encouragement, and inspiration for individuals to turn on their creative powers, but only if they want to and only if internalized.

That's the secret, lasting change is effected only when the need for change is both understood and internalized. Until the reward or incentive has been interrupted and internalized it has no motivational power at all. So the real winners in life are the people who have developed, as a result of an overall attitude of positive self expectancy, or optimism, a strong positive self motivation. This is key to improving upon your own personal development.

In other words they developed this ability to move in the direction of goals that they set, or roles they want to play, and they will tolerate little or no distraction from moving towards those goals. In the face of all discouragement, mistakes, and setbacks, this inner drive keeps them moving upward towards self fulfillment. Motivation is a very emotional state, and the great physical and mental motivators in life, such as survival, hunger, thirst, revenge, and love are all charged with emotion. The two key emotions which dominate all human motivation with opposite but nearly equal results are fear and desire.

Fear is the most powerful negative motivator of all, fear is the great compeler and the great inhibitor, fear restricts, tightens and panics, forces and ultimately scuttles plans and defeats goals. Fear can destroy a persons personal development and inhibit any attempt to improve it. Desire, conversely is like a strong positive magnet, it attracts, reaches, opens, and directs, and encourages, and achieves goals.

Fear and desire are poles apart and they lead to alternate destiny's in life, fear always looks to the past, and desire looks to the future. Fear vividly replays haunting experiences of failure, pain, disappointment, and unpleasantness and is a dogged reminder that the same experiences are likely to repeat themselves. Desire on the other hand, triggers memory of pleasure and success, it excites the need to replay these and to create new winning experiences. The consuming prison words of the fearsome person are likely to be, I have to, I can't, I see risk, and I wish. But desire says I want to, I can, I see opportunity, and I will. Desire is that emotional state between where you are and where you want to be. To have successful personal development, we have to learn to deal with fear as well as with desire.

In life winners know that all of their actions will be controlled by their currently dominant thoughts and that you cannot dwell on the reverse of an idea. That's why you can't lose weight if you keep thinking about how fat you are, you can't stop smoking if you see yourself as a smoker and that's why you can't get rich if you are worried about your bills. Winners see risk as opportunity, they see the rewards of success in advance, and they don't see the penalties of failure. They see personal development as a positive step towards a better life. Individuals dominated by fear, they can't act with choice or positive intent, they go through life reacting in defensive. People who are dominated by stress are unable to change the world they live in, the world they live in alters them.

It's a strange and sobering, fact that the thing we fear most, we ourselves bring to pass. Burning desire is the perfect mental anecdote, for fear, and despair. Desire sparks activity which burns up excessive adrenaline in the system. It keeps the mind busy and the hope of achievement alive. High achievers in life have strong personal development skills and they hold a high degree of motivation. The enduring power that moves them to action comes from inside themselves. Success in life is not reserved for the few, success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence.

We need to really learn and remember how to really develop this winning action quality of positive self motivation. It's important for you to remember that everybody is self motivated, either a little bit or a lot, positively or negatively and that motivation is not optional, even the decision to do nothing is a motivation. Each of us is motivated by our fears or our desires. Fear is unavoidable because it can get you out of danger, and save your life, it can save a child's life, but as a habit or a way of life, fear has an extremely destructive side effect.

Fear is a red light that can stop dangerous behavior, but desire is the green light that lets you go forward toward your goals. So your most valuable exercise in developing positive self motivation is to try to replace fear motivation with desire motivation. Fortunately, because fear and desire are two sides of the same coin, this is not as difficult as it appears to be. Fear of poverty can be replaced with desire for affluence.

Fear of sickness can be replaced with desire for good health, fear of failure can be replaced with desire for success. All these actions must be present to attain improved personal development. A lack of effort is the same as giving in, when there is no true attempt to seek improvement, there can be no improvement at all to relish over. Don't let the fear of failure halt you in your journey for greater personal development, hold onto the desire for complete success and true life fulfillment. Winners realize that they are motivated by their currently dominant thought, so your concentration should be on the reward of the success that you seek, rather then the possible penalty of failure. Make desire your currently dominant thought and it will propel you with the motivating energy for success in every area of your daily life.

Behind every winner is the burning desire, of optimism and enthusiasm toward the reward of success and not the penalty of failure, toward the solution in place of the problems and toward the answer in place of the question. Behind every winner is the burning desire, the absolute need, and the never ending drive for complete improved personal development.

To Follow are Some Action Reminders Towards Positive Self Motivation!

First off, replace the word can't with can in the daily vocabulary, can applies to about 95% of the challenges you encounter.

Next, replace the word "try" with "will," in your daily vocabulary, this is a form of semantics and simply establishes your new attitude of dwelling on things you will do rather then on things you plan to try with that built in excuse in advance for possible failure. Focus all your attention and energy on the achievement of the objective your involved in right now, forget about the consequences of failure. Keep your drive for personal development at the for front of your mind.

Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success. Remember you usually get what you think of most. Next, make a list of your five most important wants or desires, and right next to each, put down what the payoff or benefit is when you achieve it. Look at this list before you go to bed each night and upon waking each morning. Always give solution oriented feedback when people tell you their problems. When the problems are your own, focus on the immediate thought..."Whats the answer?" Seek out and talk to a person, this week, that is currently doing what it is you want to do most, and be certain that it is someone who is doing it well. This applies to anything, earning, or selling, skiing, or acting, speaking, managing, or even being a good spouse or parent.

Find an expert, get the facts, make a project of learning everything you can about other winners in the field. Take a course in it, get personal lessons and generate excitement by mentally seeing yourself enjoying the success. Finally, make it a habit for everyone of your goals, to repeat again, and again, "I want to, I can, I want to, I can." The power these steps will have on the improvement of your personal development, is unmeasurable. You will feel empowered, strengthened, and successful, nothing can stop you, your achievements will pile one upon another, you will know what true personal development feels like in action.

How to Keep Yourself Motivated

Keeping one’s self going is a difficult thing to do. There are a million distractions that occur every day and that can mean that we do not stay on track with what we should be doing. Self-motivation is something that does not come easy to a lot of people and that means that there are some steps that need to be taken before you can become motivated to the fullest extent. Of course there are some other matters that first need to be taken care of. If there are a lot of distractions that keep you from doing what you need to be doing then you need to make some changes. This is really the first step towards becoming self-motivated in any form.

To be self-motivated means that there is no outside force or person pushing you to become what you want. The whole concept of succeeding lies within yourself and that means that you will need to make the effort yourself to be who you want to be. The doing away with the distractions means that you need to be completely self-reliant. If you have many distractions then you will not be getting the things done that need to be so you are not being self-motivated in that sense. Take the effort to make sure that you are completely absorbed in what you are doing, especially when it comes to work. This will mean that everything else takes a back seat and you are working to the best of your ability.

If you are a person that needs a push to get going on something then you will need to devise a plan to become self-motivated. If you are one that requires the motivation then you will need to be sure to have something nearby that reminds you of what you need to be doing. For instance, a photograph depicting an event will be sure to move you along whenever you look at it. The same goes for a saying by a famous person that has succeeded in the way that you wish to succeed.

To be self-motivated is to be the one person that gets it done without having to be told to do so. Moving along through the ranks and being the one person that succeeds where others fail is above all the rest. Take the time to become self-motivated and you will be much happier with yourself to say the least.

2 Highly Effective Self Motivation Tools

Since self- motivation is dependent on one's own determination and inner change, it also lasts much longer than being motivated by others. You can take someone as your role model and get motivated looking at his or her achievements. But when, for any reason, that person falls of the pedestal, you also end up losing your motivation. Thus self- motivation is the best form of motivation that there is possible.

We tend to not get motivated if we are not sure of the credentials of the person motivating us. We also want to see the actual proof that they have shown in their life. However, when that person fails at any moment in their life, we lose our motivation as well. On the other hand, somewhere inside us, we trust our potential. So we can hardly ever lose this self- motivation, except when we are mind-wiped.

Let us suggest some tools that can come into use for self-motivation.
1. Writing - One of the best tools for self- motivation is writing. When we write, we pour out our thoughts, emotions and intent on paper. So we can also learn about what pushes us to do better. Through this tool, you can also understand in great depth, what the reasons for your doing certain things are.

Your diary is the ideal example of writing being used for self- motivation. If diaries were only written to express yourself, this expression could just as easily be done by talking to a rock. Thus, it can easily be proved that diaries and journals help us get the motivation that is required to live by careful introspection of their thoughts and actions.

In fact, you can use writing as a means of motivating yourself. Whenever you write a reminder to yourself, that is a means of self- motivation. There are so many people across the world who write encouraging and motivation messages to themselves. All the posters carrying self- motivational messages put up on your office and room walls also serve the same purpose.

2. Picture - Another self-motivation tool can also be found in images. People often get motivated looking at certain pictures. The best example of a picture that leads to self- motivation is that showing the three monkeys which brings across the message of "Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil." Some people in fact put pictures of famous and successful people to look upto them as a role model. If there is a picture that conveys a deep message, it can actually lead people to attain self-motivation.

Thus writing and pictures are the tools used extensively foe self-motivation by people all across the world. They give people the much-needed boost to go on ahead in life.

10 Tips On Self Motivation

Motivation is not automatic. You have to have things that drive you. Your ability, skill or whatever you do is a vehicle and motivation is the driver that will take you to another place. What drives you? I share ten tips on the subject of motivation.

1.Your greatest triumph comes from your greatest challenge, therefore you must be fired up to overcome the challenge because therein lies your turnaround, your breakthrough or even your destiny. David's promotion lay in his defeating Goliath, therefore he had to summon his courage to step up to the plate and conquer the giant.

2.An urgency to see certain things that have never occurred before will cause you to "burn the midnight oil", while others are asleep because you are determined to pioneer something. How desperate are you?

3. Relentless pursuit of an uncommon goal and desire will activate the creative juices in you in order for you to see the full manifestation of that thing you have been holding constant in your mind. You must be persistent

4. A positive outlook will move you from the "prison to palace", as the story of Joseph in Egypt teaches us. He never looked back or backed down. Joseph focused on the big picture, that is his dream, and that kept him motivated and encouraged.

5. A mind that is made up causes one to lose all double - mindedness. When you decide to go crossover, to take over, burn the bridges and leave no room for backsliding and that will motivate you to do whatever it takes because you do not have a fall - back plan

6. Limiting and negative attitudes will de-motivate you, it is time to eliminate these because they will pull you backwards.

7. If your pain does not push you to do things differently, it is an ache you can live with. The memories of the past failures should not torment you, but instead should be used to drive you further.

8. Vision is necessary if you are going to be self - motivated. It goes beyond your current situation and sees what others do not see. Nurture your vision and let it guide you in spite of the obstacles in your way

9.Recognize all the uncommon investment that has gone into you from the time you were a baby until now. Remind yourself that there must be a return on investment on all that wisdom, teaching, preaching, prayers that you have received. Make it count for something.

10. Do not be a person that procrastinates or makes excuses. You may excuse yourself today, but your future will not excuse you.

People that leave a legacy are moved, motivated and inspired by the fact that they hold a position that will influence future generations, grandchildren that will come out of them. What they do now determines whether blessings or a curse will follow long after they are gone. I choose to be a conduit that transmits generational blessing. Therefore I am motivated to unleash all my potential.

Many Methods For Success with Self Motivation

One extremely important quality that every successful business person should possess is self-motivation. Self-motivation may appear impossible at times, especially when outside distractions are involved. This is why working hard to achieve and maintain this skill is essential to success. It doesn't matter what the intended goal may be, if a person is trying to become motivated about beginning a new exercise regime or about completing several business reports by a deadline, the process for self-motivation is the same.

There are many different methods for increasing and maintaining self-motivation, most take time and effort to be effective. One popular way of self-motivation is through visualization. Visualization is a cognitive method of self motivation. The idea is that if a person is able to visualize himself reaping some type of major benefit from completing a goal, then it is simpler to become motivated about putting forth the effort to complete the steps towards that goal. All it takes is the smallest spark of interest for this form of self-motivation to be effective. For example, a person may dread exercising on their treadmill every morning. However, if they visualize themselves with a muscular new figure and increased physical agility, then they are a lot more likely to exercise. The mental image during visualization helps to motivate them.

Goal setting is another excellent method of self-motivation. A person sets goals for a reason, and obviously they want to reach those goals in a predetermined amount of time. As a person comes closer and closer to achieving an intended goal, he or she becomes increasingly more motivated to continue to work toward reaching that goal. The process is cyclical. For example, an overweight person wants to lose 50 pounds but believes this goal is impossible to achieve. However, after they lose the first five pounds they become motivated by their progress toward the final goal. The goal appears more realistic and reachable. They become excited by seeing the initial weigh loss which pushes them to lose more.

Sometimes actual visual motivators can assist in self-motivation. While similar to visualization, this technique is different because visualization doesn't require a person to use a physical object as a motivator; this technique does. For instance, if a person wants to lose weight, hanging a small-sized swim suit where it can easily be seen is a great way to encourage self-motivation. Another example of a visual motivator might be a sales executive that knows he or she will receive a huge bonus if they make a certain sale. Placing a photo of the new car that they plan to purchase with the bonus money might provide enough self-motivation to make the sale a reality.

There are many ways of using self-motivation to one's advantage. As long as a person is able to motivate themselves, and remain that way, they can achieve just about any goal that they desire. Self-motivation may appear difficult at first, by if a person works at it often, it can prove to be very beneficial and rewarding.

Self Motivation Strategies for Greater Achievement

The key to self-motivation is setting goals. Without goals, it really doesn't matter how self motivated a person tries to be. They have to know what it is that they are motivated for.

There must be a reward or benefit for it to be motivation. That is what drives us as humans. Without this factor, there will not likely be success in self-motivation.

That is the reason why it is very important to make a list of goals. This first step will get you started in the right direction to achieving self-motivation.

Now, let's talk about goals. The goals we set for ourselves sometimes tend to be way out of our reach. When we do this, we our basically setting ourselves up for failure. When this happens, it is like taking a giant step backwards in the motivation process.

A person`s goals need to be both realistic and possible. For instance, if winning the lottery is your goal, you need to rethink that goal. Yes, it is possible but it is not realistic to win the lottery. It is very important to make sure that person's goals fit into both of these categories.

Another piece of advice in achieving self-motivation is to never look back on past failures. This is just not a productive thing to do. We tend to get hung up on our mistakes and then they become major obstacles on the way to our goals.

We can learn from our mistakes that we have made in the past, but be careful not to dwell on them. So, remembering that we are just human and we are not perfect can help us become more self-motivated.

Once you have figured out what motivates you personally, and you have set your goals, you're about one third of the way through the process.

The next step is to find your objectives. They are very specific objectives. They need to be measurable, for instance, by the week, day or month. When questioned about these objectives, the answer should be a yes or no answer. They are basically directives that will tell you what needs to be done and when.

Next comes the part where our human nature tries to step in and stop this self-motivation process. It is called the commitment step. This phase of the process is difficult more so for some than others.

Some people just have a real hard time committing to jobs, relationships, and personal gains. Some of this lack of commitment comes from low self-esteem or low self-confidence.

In order to be successful at self-motivation, one must be confident in them selves and know their own worth. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Identifying your personal weaknesses and strengths is a giant step in the right direction.

Whether you are searching for self motivation for the purpose of losing weight, exercising more, starting a new career, or putting an end to bad habits, there are many self help websites out on the internet that can help a person with these issues.

There are also online classes that can be taken to help improve some of these areas and issues. Books on self-help can be purchased at many bookstores nationwide, as well.

The resources out there are great in number and they pretty much say the same things. But the bottom line is that it is up to you and your attitude and your mindset.

If you want to be self motivated, then all it will take is searching for what motivates you. Getting a reachable goal will also help you get started on the right path to self motivation.

Two Types Of Self Motivation

There are two basic types of motivation: intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is generated due to external factors, whereas intrinsic motivation is generated due to internal sensation and is a longer lasting one.

Self motivation, also called intrinsic motivation, refers to an internal drive that originates from within a person which helps a person to overcome obstacles and pursue worthy goals. Besides internal factors, there are certain external factors that drive you to start something new or to make a move in a positive direction.

Desire, values, and beliefs are the three motivating factors that constitute self motivation.

Self motivation is necessary as you cannot always rely on others to get motivated. It is surely needed to gather courage and strength to achieve your goals. Furthermore, it is essential to take up a new activity or to plan and find new directions in life.

The power exists within every person, but you should be able to get self -motivated to achieve your desires or goals. Self Motivation Secret

We all have a lack of self motivation at times. We can learn a hundred ways to improve our lives, but then hesitate to act. Something less important catches our attention, or we just don't feel like doing what we need to do. Even a person who is normally highly motivated can sometimes have a hard time getting started on an important task.

Is there a solution? There are probably dozens of them. Below are six of the best self motivation techniques that consistently work when used. Try them all, but if you find even one or two here that work for you, you'll be on your way.

Self Motivation Techniques That Work:

1. Talk to get motivated. One of my favorite ways to create energy and motivation is to talk. Once I tell my wife about the article I'm going to write, I'm out of my slump and back at the keyboard. For less inspiring tasks, talk about the larger goals it will help you achieve.

2. Stimulate your desire. Seeing their potential future motivates many to sign up for get-rich-quick plans. The really good salesmen can put you in your imagined dream home in minutes, and make you feel motivated to do anything to make it real. Learn to be your own salesman.

3. Stimulate your pain. One Neuro-Linguistic Programming technique is to mentally link pain with not acting. It is like when finally stop hitting that snooze button on the alarm, and get up because you think you might lose your job. Just imagine any bad consequences that may occur if you don't do what you need to do.

4. Find a true interest. If you have no interest in what you are doing, it might mean you need to do something else. If it's just a task you dislike, but it needs to be done, relate it clearly in your mind to the greater goal. I don't like to drive, but I don't have a motivation problem when I'm driving to the mountains for a vacation.

5. Boost your energy. You need energy for self motivation. Coffee may help for a while, if caffeine doesn't create other problems for you. Exercising and sleeping well help too. Yo should also watch out for sugary foods. The "sugar blues"kill motivation. Once you find energy boosters that work for you, make a list and keep it handy for future use.

6. Take any small step. I've found if I commit to raking up one bag of leaves, I soon want to finish all the yard work. Taking any small step towards your goals is a great self motivation technique. To make this even easier, break larger goals down into small steps.

Motivation techniques really do work, but don't ask me how to get motivated to use them. In any case, you were motivated enough to read this far, so you'll be fine. Oh, and humor is number seven. A good laugh can overcome that feeling of being overwhelmed that sucks away self motivation.
